Loch's win on the artificial track in Winerberg, Germany, is the German's 23rd World Cup victory and with the German followed in second by Russia's Stepan Fedorov, with Tucker West of the United States completing the top three.

As a result of the victory Loch extends his lead in the overall standings as he boasts a total of 663 points, 230 ahead of his nearest competitor Andi Langenhan, also of Germany, who has 433 points from eight races, with only four World Cup events to go.

"I'm on a roll with three victories in succession," said Loch.

"And that's although I almost crashed in the second run.

"I had to do some acrobatics to stay on the sled.

"My form is looking good for the World Championships."

There was more German success with Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken standing on top of the podium in the doubles event, with the silver going to another German pairing of Tobias Arlt and Tobias Wendl.

"I already had a grin on my face at the final corner, because I felt that we were going to win this race," said Eggert.

"If we make two optimum runs at the World Championships in Sigulda in two weeks' time, we'll be in with the top teams.

"What place we actually make there remains to be seen."

The FIL World Luge Championships will take place in Sigulda, Latvia from February 14 to 15.
