The Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja will host two major qualifying events in 2015 and 2016 ©WCFLohja in Finland will host the World Wheelchair Curling Qualification Event 2015 and the World Junior-B Curling Championships 2016, underlining its position as a major centre for the sport. 

Both events will be held at the Kisakallio Sports Institute with the World Wheelchair Curling Qualification Event 2015 scheduled for November 7 until 12 next year and the World Junior-B Curling Championships between January 3 and 9 in 2016. 

The World Wheelchair Curling Qualification Event will act as a qualifier for the 2016 World Wheelchair Curling Championships with the top two teams securing births at the flagship event, while the World Junior-B Curling Championships provides three men's teams and three women's team the opportunity to qualify for the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships.

"The World Curling Federation (WCF) is delighted to award both of these events to Lohja, Finland," said WCF President Kate Caithness.

"The Kisakallio Sports Institute, which is fully wheelchair accessible, has played host to several WCF competitions in the past.

"We are always happy to return to this first class facility which is perfect for curling events with both accommodation and catering on-site.

"In addition to the Wheelchair Qualification event, we felt that with such high standards of facilities, Kisakallio should be rewarded with hosting the historic, first ever, World Junior-B Curling Championships in 2016.

"The World Curling Federation looks forward to working with the Finnish Curling Association and local partners to ensure the success of both of these events for everyone involved."

The Kisakallio Sports Institute, situated less than an hour's drive from Finnish capital Helsinki, is also due to play host to the 2015 World Wheelchair Curling Championships from February 7 until 13.

The top seven finishers from this competition will claim places at the event in 2016 leaving the final two spaces set to be determined at the World Wheelchair Curling Qualification Event 2015.

One spot is saved for the host of the 2016 Championships, which is yet be confirmed by the WCF.

The World Junior-B Curling Championship is replacing both the European Junior Curling Challenge and the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships in 2016, and will see the top three men's teams and top three women's teams qualify for the World Junior Curling Championships in 2016.

They will join the host nation and the top six placed teams from the World Junior Curling Championships 2015 in qualifying.

"This is great news for Finnish Curling and especially important for our wheelchair and junior curling development," said Finnish Curling Association President Olli Rissanen.

"The cooperation with the Kisakallio Sports Institute has been extremely constructive over the past few years and we are pleased to continue our great working relationship for these two competitions.

"I would also like to offer a big thanks to the WCF for trusting us to host some of their events once again."
