andy murrayJune 14 - British Tennis have launched a digital schools competition in which the winning school will win an all expenses paid trip to see the world's top players in action at the ATP World Tour Finals held at London's O2 Arena this November.

Schools nationwide will be tasked with creating a short video showcasing ways in which their pupils are engaging in tennis, not just by playing but in other ways across their curriculum that engages all pupils.

The judging panel, made up of British tennis and Department of Education representatives, will be looking for the innovation-led teaching and training methods, as well as the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through tennis, and the encouragement to build mutual respect between pupils.

The winning school will not only receive an all-expenses paid trip to the ATP World Tour Finals at The O2, which takes place from November 4 to 11, 2013, they will also be invited to attend an experience day at the National Tennis Centre, and every school that submits a film will be entered into a prize draw to receive one of 50 schools tennis equipment vouchers.

The competition follows-on from the Aegon Schools Tennis programme, which is run in partnership between the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the Tennis Foundation to encourage more youngsters to take up tennis and to ensure that teachers are delivering beneficial and enjoyable programmes.

The scheme has so far reached over 16,000 schools and provided free teacher training, resources and equipment, and the competition is open to both schools that have and have not been involved in the scheme.

Tennis Foundation Schools Tennis Manager Paul Williams said: "We are delighted to be launching this competition with support from the Department for Education to build on British tennis' existing schools programme which has reached more than half the schools across Great Britain.

"This is an exciting opportunity for schools showcase the innovative ways in which they use sport to engage their pupils and we're really looking forward to see what tennis means to pupils up and down the country."

The competition opened for entries at 9am on June 13 and will be open for four weeks, closing at 5pm on July 12 with the winner announced the following week.
