TaekwandoSeptember 30 - The 2013 World Taekwondo Championships in the Mexican city Puebla will be held from July 15 until 21, it has been announced.

Puebla was awarded the prestigious competition ahead of the Croatian city Split by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) in April this year in a move that means Mexico will host the event for the first time ever.

"I am pleased to inform you that the competition dates of 2013 WTF World Taekwondo Championships to be held in Puebla, Mexico have now been fixed as July 15-21, 2013," said WTF secretary general Jean-Marie Ayer in a letter to the taekwondo family.

"The decision has been made in close coordination with the Organising Committee that is working hard for successful organisation of the championships."

Puebla will also host the WTF Council meeting and General Assembly ahead of the Championships but Ayer said the date for the two gatherings has not yet been confirmed.

"The dates of WTF Council meeting and General Assembly will be decided soon after consultation with the WTF Council members," he said.
