After a 42-7 thrashing of Wales on the opening day of action, Fiji, looking to bounce back after the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) rejected their entrance into Glasgow 2014, continued to carve through the opposition defences, putting 56 points past Sri Lanka with no reply, before dominating Kenya 43-5.

Australia, England and New Zealand also finished day two with three wins under their belts, with each team topping their respective pools to book their spot in the quarter-finals.

Australia added to their 28-14 victory over Spain on day one with a 26-0 trouncing of France, before edging past World Series leaders South Africa 10-7 to complete a hat-trick of wins in the Hong Kong Stadium.

England's opening day victory over Argentina was followed up by a dominant 21-7 win over Portugal, before being taken right to the wire in an extremely close 14-12 encounter against Canada.

New Zealand's 100 per cent record continued with a 26-7 win over Samoa and a 17-7 victory against the United States, following their opening day domination against Scotland.

Following the day's fixtures, Fiji now face Pool D runners-up the United States in the Cup quarter-finals.

England play South Africa, who finished second to New Zealand in Pool B, New Zealand play Wales and Australia will face Canada.

As well as the quarter-finals, tomorrow will also see the Cup semi-finals and final take place with the Bowl, Shield and Plate competitions coming to a conclusion.

In the separate World Series promotion qualifier, 12 teams have been vying to join those top sides as a core team and compete at all nine rounds of the 2014-2015 Series, with hosts Hong Kong, Japan, Italy and Russia reaching the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow.

Japan continued their fine run of form in the quarter-final encounter with Tunisia, thrashing the North African side 38-7 to book their place in the semis.

They will face Russia in this semi-final fixture following their 21-7 victory over Uruguay.

The second semi-final will pit hosts Hong Kong against Italy following wins over Chile and Zimbabwe respectively.

Italy had to wait until sudden death extra time to secure their spot in the next round as a late Fabrizio Sepe ensured a 17-12 victory over Zimbabwe.

In an equally tight encounter, Hong Kong just edged out Chile by 10 points to seven to continue their 100 per cent record in their home competition.

Following the semi-finals, the final of the World Series qualifier will also take place tomorrow with the winner gaining core team status and given a spot in all nine rounds of next season's World Series.
