Fans can win a free family ticket to the European Judo Championships if their design is selected ©Euro Judo 2015Organisers of the 2015 European Judo Championships are offering fans the chance to design the official mascot of the competition, with the winner receiving a free family ticket to the event.

Entrants have until January 31 to submit their designs, which must have a judo theme.

The winning designer will then get the chance to meet their creation and have a photo taken with the mascot at the event.

Europe's top judokas will descend on the Championships, which run from April 9 to 12 to be held in the same city which hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games - an event widely heralded as a huge success.

The competition to design the mascot for the event comes after Clyde, who was the mascot at the Commonwealth Games, embraced the spirit of the event and was well received among the many thousands of spectators who visited the Scottish capital in the summer.

Hosting the 2015 European Judo Championships - which will be held in Great Britain for the first time in 20 years - represents another part of what has been an incredible period for Scottish sport.

As well as staging one of the most successful Commonwealth Games to date, Scotland played host to the 2014 Ryder Cup and several major sporting events are also set to take place there over the next 12 months.

In 2015, Scotland are due to host the International Cycling Union Mountain Bike World Cup, the International Paralympic Committee World Swimming Championships as well as the World Gymnastics Championships later on in the year.

Entrants can upload their design here.
