August 9 - JUDO CADET DAY TWODay two of the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Cadet Championships in Miami saw further success for Japan with two more gold medals leaving it top of the medal table at the halfway point of the tournament.

There were two girls and two boy's categories decided on the second day of action at the Doral Legends Ballroom, and once again it was the Japanese who dominated proceedings.

In the girl's -48 kilogrammes class, Mikoto Tsunemi beat rival Lee Hyekyeong of South Korea in a relatively close contest as a kesa-gatame secured an ippon for Tsunemi securing her the gold.

The bronze medals went to Youth Olympic Festival silver medallist Betina Temelkova of Bulgaria and 15-year-old Russian Kristina Shilova who overcame three-time Cadet European Cup winner Patrycia Szekely, also 15.

Tsunemi's compatriot Takumi Oshima emerged on top in an extremely competitive boy's -60kg category.

An uki-goshi for ippon saw Oshima defeat the Ukraine's Bogdan Iadov in the final and notch up another gold for Japan.

European Youth Olympic Festival silver medallist Dzmitry Minkou of Belarus overcame Armenia's Harutyun Dermishyan, while Tsogtbaatar Tsendochir of Mongolia defeated Frenchman and Berlin Cadet European Cup silver medallist Jolan Florimont in the bronze medal matches.

In the boy's -66kg category, Georgia's Koba Mchedlishvili denied Japan another top spot as he overcame Cadet Asian Championship winner Hifumi Abe with a waza-ari throw right at the end of an absorbing contest.

In the bronze medal match-ups Didar Khamza of Kazakhstan prevailed against rival Sukhrob Tursunov of Uzbekistan, pinning his opponent to the floor to secure an ippon, while Berlin Cadet European Cup bronze medallist Pavel Ershov of Russia secured a narrow win over Armenia's Albert Mkrtchyan.

Canada's Jessica Klimkait claimed the first gold for the America's following her victory in the girl's -52kg category.

A kesa-gatame for ippon saw the Canadian eventually overcome Mariam Janashvili of Georgia who became her country's first female judoka to win a World Championship medal.

Mongolia's Khulan Tseregbaatar defeated Berlin Cadets European Cup winner Chishima Maeda of Japan to secure bronze along with Berlin Cadets European Cup runner-up Layana Colman of Brazil who submitted Kyiv Cadets European Cup bronze medallist Ulyana Minenkova of Belarus with a juji-gatame near the end of the contest.
