australi hockey_15-12-11December 15 - Australia's men's hockey coach Ric Charlesworth has selected a 28 man squad, which includes world player of the year Jamie Dwyer, to train in Perth from next month in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.

The squad also includes Charlesworth's son, Jonathon, and they will be training in the Western Australian state from January 18 until the end of March, before travelling to Europe when the final 18 man squad is finalised for the Games in London.

Andrew Charter has also been promoted to the senior squad, and Charlesworth explained that he and his son had been the best players from the youth ranks.

"The two players that have come into the squad are the best-performed players from our development squad over the past year,'' he said.

Another player looking to return to the squad will be Grant Schubert, who is currently out with an injury, and Charlesworth said that he could be back in the fold if he recovers well.

Australia won their fourth successive Champions Trophy, the first time any country has achieved such a feat, last week when they beat Spain 1-0 in Auckland, cementing their status as a London 2012 medal favourite.
