Titleist will provide range balls for warm up and practice on The European Tour for the next four years ©Getty Images American golf equipment manufacturer Titleist has extended its long-standing partnership with The European Tour by signing on as an official partner until 2018.

Under the agreement, which extends a partnership that began more than 25 years ago, the firm will continue to provide range balls for players to warm-up and practice with throughout The European Tour international schedule.

"Titleist is one of the strongest brands in golf and we are delighted to extend the partnership until 2018," said George O'Grady, chief executive of The European Tour.

"Our relationship with Titleist has grown enormously during the many years we have worked together, and we are excited about building on this further over the next four years."

The firm claims 20,995 players across worldwide professional tours used Titleist golf balls in 2013, compared to 3,071 from its nearest competitor.

Among those players was Swede Henrik Stenson, who was the number one player on The European Tour last year with his win at the DP World Tour Championship, played on the Earth Course at the Jumeriah Golf Estates in Dubai, earning him the Race to Dubai crown.

Stenson, currently ranked at number three in the world, used the Titleist Pro V1x ball last year and his win in Dubai was the 2,013th success for the Pro V1 franchise, according to Titleist.

Titleist was founded in 1932 and has its headquarters in Fairhaven, Massachusetts.

Along with the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, its range of balls also includes the NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, DT SoLo and Velocity.

It also manufacturers a range of golf clubs.

"Our partnership with The European Tour helps us to connect with our target audience of serious golfers and reinforce our position as the most trusted golf ball at every level of competitive golf," said Matthew Johnson, brand director for Titleist, which joins BMW, Emirates and Rolex as top-tier partners for The European Tour.

"We look forward to developing the relationship further over the next four years and hope to bring even more value to the association for both parties."

Last weekend saw England's Daniel Brooks claim his maiden European Tour win at the Madeira Islands Open using the Po V1x ball, while at the GS Caltex MaeKyung Open in Seoul, an event co-sanctioned by the ONEAsia Tour and Korean PGA Tour, Park Jun-won secured victory using the same ball.

Danie van Tonder also used the Pro V1x on his way to winning the Investec Royal Swazi Open on the South African Tour last weekend.
