Chris Eaton_01-05-12May 1 - Chris Eaton (pictured), FIFA's former director of security, has taken up his new role with the Doha-based International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), the not-for-profit institution that specialises in helping sports events develop their security and safety strategies.

Eaton joins as director of sports integrity after spearheading FIFA's drive to combat match fixing and criminal behaviour within football.

In his new position, Eaton will work closely with international sporting bodies, Governments, agencies and academic institutions.

A no-nonsense Australian who tirelessly campaigned to weed out the perpetrators while at FIFA, Eaton said he was looking forward "to help combat the scourge of sports-results manipulation and criminal activities in sport".

"The ICSS provides tailored advice in important issues of sport security and integrity and I hope to use the valuable experience and knowledge that I gained at FIFA to help develop an international and multisport approach to these critical issues," he added.

The ICSS was set up only last September but is already becoming increasingly influential.

Eaton, who also used to work for Interpol, is widening his brief to help sports events and federations with all aspects of safety and security.

Mohammed Hanzab, President of the ICSS, said having Eaton on board was a huge boost to the organisation's worldwide credibility.

"We hope that Chris's arrival demonstrates our ongoing commitment in addressing important issues in sport integrity," he said.
