1July 6 - FIFA President Sepp Blatter has visited Jordan, accompanied by Jordan Football Association (JFA) President and FIFA vice-President Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, to visit a refugee camp and set up two of the world football governing body's Goal Projects in capital city Amman.

During the visit to the Zaatari refugee camp, Blatter and Prince Ali observed a football-orientated Mine Risk Education workshop, organised by Prince Ali's non-profit youth commission, the Asian Football Development Project.

A new FIFA-funded artificial turf pitch was then inaugurated in the city of Turra near the Syrian border, play host to grassroots activities benefiting Syrian refugees and Jordanians.

"FIFA has provided valuable support to Jordanian football over the course of many years, and I was delighted to have the chance to express my gratitude to Mr. Blatter for this and for FIFA's recent initiatives," said Ali.

Blatter praised Ali and his work in promoting social development through football.

"Prince Ali is a noble humanitarian and it is great to have him as chairman of the FIFA Social Responsibility Committee as he has done so much in Asia and internationally, he is the human face of football," he said at a press conference following the inauguration.

JFA board members met with Blatter prior to the press conference, in which they discussed hosting the 2016 under-17 Women's World Cup and the effect that hosting the event could have on the profile of women's football in the region, and a plan to upgrade the infrastructural capabilities of Zaatari and surrounding Jordanian villages affected by the Syrian refugee issue was also presented.
