Front_page_2013_Jumping_and_DressageNovember 4 - Denmark has fought off fierce competition from Germany and Holland to win the right to host the FEI jumping and dressage championships in 2013.

The Championships, the largest equestrian event ever to be held in the country, will take place in the city of Herning from August 21-25.

President of the Danish Equestrian Federation, Ulf Helgstrand, welcomed the announcement, saying: "Denmark is absolute ready for this great event.

"The facilities in Herning give us the opportunity to stage the two equestrian events with an unprecedented set-up in one and the same event.

"We have won this thanks to a professional and visionary cooperation between JBK Horse Shows, Sport Event Denmark, the city of Herning and the Danish Equestrian Federation.

"Only by joining forces can we reach great heights in equestrian sport."

Chief executive of Sport Event Denmark, Lars Lundov, added: "In terms of equestrian events in Denmark this is without precedent.

"I am sure this combined European Championships event will make history.

"Our winning bid proves that Denmark's capability is equal to our larger competitors and I am pleased to say that for the time being we are winning all the events we are bidding for."
