This second sale - the first was reserved for National Federations and their members - allows the public to purchase tickets in all seven FEI disciplines to be contested at the showpiece event, namely jumping, dressage and Para-dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting and reining, until March 3, 2014.

Sensation Passes, which offer equestrian enthusiasts the choice of one or several disciplines including the final, and Discovery Passes, for spectators wishing to experience different disciplines over the course of one or two days, are available, with both passes giving access to the Games Village.

"Ticket sales for next year's Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy have been very strong so far," FEI secretary general Ingmar De Vos said.

"To have already sold more than 130,000 places to the equestrian family in France and overseas has exceeded all expectations and we are expecting even greater numbers now that ticket sales are open to the general public.

"We're looking forward to sold-out venues and huge cheering crowds in Normandy next year."

Tickets, which can be bought online through the official ticketing website, cost as little as €16 (£13/$22), and a 50 per cent reduction is available for children up to the age of 12.

Orders are limited to six identical passes per day, with a limit of 24 passes in total over the duration of the event.

Individual tickets will go on sale on March 4 next year.
