Team GB's fighters produced a terrific display to top the London 2012 boxing medals table as they claimed five medals with golds for Joshua, Campbell and women's flyweight Nicola Adams, a silver for welterweight Fred Evans and a bronze for middleweight Anthony Ogogo.

The results made it Britain's most successful Olympic boxing campaign in history and the nation has been rewarded with newly elevated positions in the world rankings for many of its fighters.

It is the rise of Joshua (pictured top) to the top of the superheavyweight charts that is perhaps the most impressive as the 22-year-old from Watford was only ranked 46th last year before he leapt to fourth with a surprise silver at the 2011 World Championships.

He then capped that success with an Olympic gold medal-winning performance at ExCeL.

The ranking could help Joshua receive a favourable draw at future AIBA championships because, despite having been offered several lucrative professional contracts, he has expressed a desire to fight on as an amateur for the foreseeable future.

Fellow Games champion Campbell, who is being tipped to turn professional, is now top of the bantamweight division – up from third – after he defeated Ireland's John Joe Nevin in the gold-medal bout.

Despite missing out on an Olympic medal at flyweight, the hugely consistent Selby has moved up from second place to first in his weight category.

At welterweight, Evans has climbed from third place to second following his London 2012 silver medal while Ogogo is new in at nine at middleweight after winning bronze and Tom Stalker sits third in the light welterweight class despite missing out on a London 2012 medal.

In the women's rankings, Adams has moved from third to second at flyweight after an historic victory over Ren Cancan of China w3hich saw her claim the first ever women's Olympic gold medal.

Lightweight Natasha Jonas has risen from seventh place to sixth, despite a valiant loss in the quarter-finals to Ireland's formidable world number one Katie Taylor, while current AIBA world champion Savannah Marshall is now ranked third at middleweight, despite also failing to win an Olympic medal.
