The 12-panel design basketball is manufactured using a special rubber compound, which gives the ball a tacky feel, and features a deep-pebble surface to enhance player's grip.

The additional seams will provide increased accuracy in shooting and passing, while the special surface also adds durability to the life of the ball, particularly when used outdoors, the manufacturers claim.

First to trial the new pink ball was the GB women's team.

Jo Leedham, a member of the team said: "The Molten G-Series is a great basketball and we are thrilled Molten has brought out this unique pink ball.

"Women's teams up and down the country are just going to love playing with it."
