A proposed venue for Eurobasket 2015 in UkraineSeptember 22 - The logo and visual identity of EuroBasket 2015 has been unveiled today in a move designed to coordinate with the conclusion of the 2013 event in Slovenia and set the stage for what lies ahead.

The logo was inspired by traditional Ukrainian dances - Arkan and Hopak - that are known for their jumps that serve as a parallel to jumping to score a basket.

The shapes and the flow of the dancer's costume are the reflection of the colours of different national flags and mixed cultures.

Themes of a "leap forward towards the future of basketball" as well as the joy of celebration and a welcoming approach towards Europe's best players and fans have also been focused upon.

The logo was unveiled in the presence of Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul, President of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine (FBU) Oleksandr Volkov and Ukraine 2015 Tournament Director Markian Lubkivskyi.

Also present was the International Basketball Association's (FIBA) Europe acting President Cyriel Coomans and FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak.

"We have already been working for many months to prepare EuroBasket 2015," said Novak.

"We want EuroBasket 2015 to become better and better.

"Ukraine have already done a great job organising the Under 16 Men's European Championship earlier this year and I am sure that EuroBasket 2015 will be just as good."

Hosting EuroBasket in 2015 has already inspired the country to their best ever performance of sixth place at the 2013 event after they shocked Italy 66-58 to qualify for the FIBA World Cup next year for the very first time.

Vilkul reflected on this as he promised to do all in his power to organise the "best EuroBasket in history."

"This year the Ukrainian basketball team showed their best result in history," he added.

"Our players became part of the top eight teams on the European continent.

"Their Cossack spirit, willingness to win, character and teamwork - were the foundations of this success.

"We have added to these qualities our Ukrainian hospitality to create the logo of EuroBasket 2015 which will take place in Ukraine.

"We will do our best for this logo to become a symbol of the most successful of all the European Basketball Championships.

"We will be very happy to welcome basketball fans to Ukraine, and will surprise and please them with high levels of service, comforts and festive atmosphere."
