The app will also provide news on the buildup and qualification rounds to next year's FIBA World Cup as teams begin to fill the 24 spots for the tournament.

Seven of those 24 spots have been taken, as the automatic qualifiers, host nation Spain and holders the United States, were joined by Asian champions Iran, runners-up the Philippines and bronze medallists Korea, as well as Oceania champions Australia and runners-up New Zealand.

African qualifiers will be decided this weekend at the Afrobasket in the Ivoirian city of Abidjan, where Egypt, Senegal, Angola and the hosts will battle it out for the three spots on offer, whilst the FIBA Americas Championship gets underway in Caracas today, where the top four teams will qualify for the World Cup.

Qualification for the World Cup is due to conclude with the EuroBasket in Slovenia from September 4 until 22, where the top six teams will book their tickets for the World Cup, whilst four teams will be given wildcard entries to complete the line-up.
