The 24-year-old from Yorkshire will compete in the compound event alongside Russia's Albina Loginova, the world number one and world champion, in a field that includes seven athletes ranked in the top ten.

The World Cup final, to be held tomorrow and Sunday (September 23), is an elite event with only the top eight performers qualifying for the event on the basis of the three events held over the season.

Archers will compete in the men and women's recurve division and the men and women's compound. 

Brown, who won her second consecutive Paralympic gold medal in the women's compound at London 2012, earned her late call-up after Venezuela's Olga Bosch withdrew for family reasons.

Two years ago Brown, who suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy in the feet, and competes sitting down or leaning on a stool, became the first Paralympian to represent England in an able-bodied event at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and won a gold medal in the women's compound team event.

"I'm really excited to be involved [in Tokyo], and I will be giving it my very best," said Brown, who will face Italy's second-seeded Marcella Tonioli in the first round.

"To be honest, when I got home after the Paralympic Games I put my bow away, and was expecting to take it easy for a couple of weeks.

"Then I got a call from World Archery inviting me over to Japan, and the bow was back out in a flash, and preparations got underway.

"It's a great opportunity for me, and it's an honour to become the first Paralympic archer to take part; I hope I can set a trend.

"Mentally its great too as I have no expectations at all, just have fun and shoot my best."

The event is also an opportunity for Tokyo to showcase its bid to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. 

Local interest will centre on Takaharu Furukawa, who competes in the recurve event having been the first Japanese archer to win an individual archery medal at the Olympics when he claimed the silver at London 2012, losing out to South Korea's Oh Jin Hyek in the final at Lord's.

Oh has failed to qualify for the final.

"Archery is a smaller sport in Japan and I hope my medal will inspire more people to take up the sport," said Furukawa.
