His 1min 58.16sec swim was his third Olympic qualification time of the competition, which serves as the trials for this summer's Olympics and Paralympics, in a race where he came from behind to finish ahead of James Goddard with 1:58.42 and Ieuan Lloyd 1:59.97.

Roebuck had narrowly lost to Roberto Pavoni in the 400m medley and won the 200m butterfly before his performance in the 200m individual.

"Once before I had a triple British Champs gold and this time it was two golds and silver but the fact that they all went for Olympic qualification means this was definitely the best of my career," Roebuck said.

"There was definitely a lot of competition in that race from James Goddard and we didn't know how fast Ieuan Lloyd would go because he's having a flyer this week but I knew the gold was possible so I just gave it my best shot really."

Roebuck is already focused on picking up a medal at this summer's Olympics.

"[Michael] Phelps and [Ryan] Lochte are ahead of the world but the race for bronze is very open and it's between seven or eight guys and I'm one of them for sure," he said.

"At the end of last year's world rankings I was seventh, but there was only four tenths of a second between third and tenth so it's there for the taking and I will be working so hard for that."


There was also a gold medal for Fran Halsall (pictured), who won the final of the 100m freestyle in an Olympic qualifying time of 53.57 ahead of Amy Smith, who also made the qualification time in 54.01.

Halsall's time is the fastest in the world this year, and she will be hopeful of avoiding the same fate she endured at the World Championships in Shanghai last year, where she qualified for the final in style only to miss out on a medal.

"I'm a bit disappointed with the time if I'm honest, I thought I'd go a bit faster than that tonight," she said.

"But I've never gone that fast in Britain before and it's the fastest I've ever been at this time of year so I can only take good things from that.

"My coach always says 'Fran, you never really turn up until the summer' so hopefully I'll be able to go faster come the Games.

"Now I am on the team I can just totally focus on that.

"I'm in such good form at the moment so if I can carry that through to the Olympic Games, hopefully I can swim a bit faster there and get another medal."

Teenage star Rebecca Turner, already going to London after winning the 200m freestyle, came third in the 100m to qualify for the Olympic relay squad touching in 54.83.


Stacey Tadd (pictured) set a lifetime best of 2.26.63 in the 200m breaststroke final to seal a place at London 2012, breaking an English record in the process.

"It [qualifying for the Olympics] is an amazing feeling," said Tadd.

"I knew I would have to go out hard but I had done the training so I knew I could achieve qualification."

She finished ahead of 15-year-old star Molly Renshaw, who just missed out on the qualification time, and Hannah Miley, who has already qualified for the Olympics in the 200m and 400m individual medley.

In the men's 200m backstroke final, Calum Jarvis surprised his rivals to take gold ahead of Marco Loughran and Chris Walker-Hebborn.

In the women's event, 16-year-old Karley Mann qualified for London in a time of 2:10.30 ahead of Steph Proud and Liz Simmonds.
