World swimming governing body FINA and IEC in Sport have anounced an extension to their partnershipOctober 18 - The International Swimming Federation (FINA) today announced an extension to their partnership with sports marketing agency IEC in Sports.


IEC is a media company with offices in Stockholm, Lausanne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Dubai that distributes television rights to sport events to a wide variety of media platforms.

The deal means that IEC in Sports retains its position as FINA's official media agent and from 2014 onwards they will distribute the media rights to its major properties across the globe.

"As FINA delivers great aquatic competitions, with brilliant stars and superb performances, the successful partnership with IEC in Sports provides valuable support, reinforcing our TV partners and broadcast rights and enhancing the image of our sport across the five continents." said Cornel Marculescu, FINA's executive director.

Events included under the deal include to the FINA Swimming World Cup, FINA Diving World Series, FINA Water Polo World League and FINA Synchronised Swimming World Trophy.

"IEC in Sports has a strong track record of working in aquatic sports, thus the partnership with FINA is a natural fit," said Daniel Franck, chief executive of IEC in Sports and joint-chief executive of Lagardère Unlimited's media hub across Europe and Africa.

"We are thrilled to renew our agreement and will be looking to build on this to expand and exploit additional production, digital and marketing opportunities."

IEC in Sports, which is owned by Lagardère Unlimited, has been working in cooperation with FINA for almost a decade.
