Egypt and Brazil have been added to the Karate1 Premier League Series for 2015 ©WKFEgypt and Brazil are set to host a Karate1 Premier League event for the first time as the World Karate Federation (WKF) disclose the calendar for the 2015 Premier League Series.

A Premier League event in Africa has long been in the pipeline for the WKF and will mark a huge step forward for karate on the continent, it is hoped.

This event in Egypt, who were one of the leading nations at the last World Senior Championships, will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh between February 28 and March 1, a few weeks before the European Senior Championships in Istanbul.

It should, therefore, promise to bring a good participation numbers as athletes from Europe prepare for the continental championships.

Brazil's inaugural Premier League event will take place from May 30-31 in São Paulo.

This event, along with that of Egypt's, represents a significant step in the right direction for the WKF as they look to widen the Premier League Series to new countries and continents.

The 2015 Series will, as is tradition, get underway in Paris in January.

It will then move to Almere, The Netherlands on February 14-15, before legs in Egypt and Brazil.

After a short break, the Series moves to Istanbul on September 5-6, followed by Hanua, Germany from September 26-27, Salzburg, Austria from October 17-18, before climaxing Okinawa, Japan on November 28-29.

After two successful editions of the Jakarta Premier League, the Series will not travel to the Indonesian capital in 2015 due to the organisation of the World Cadet, Junior and Under 21 Championships that will be held in the same city in November.

The WKF Karate1 Premier League is one of the most prestigious events in the world of karate.

It is a series of world class competitions organised by the World Karate Federation and aims to bring together the best competitors in the world in a series of open championships.
