King claimed a gold medal in the women's doubles with Jaclyn Hawkes four years ago, as well as mixed doubles silver with partner Martin Knight, while also finishing fifth in the singles competition.

Her exploits were rewarded with the honour of carrying the New Zealand flag at the Delhi 2010 Closing Ceremony.

The 25-year-old, who claimed the Greenwich Open title in January this year before reaching the quarter-finals at the Women's World Championships in Penang, Malaysia in March, is set to compete once again in the singles, doubles and mixed events at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Knight will partner King in the mixed doubles while Amanda Landers-Murphy will share the court in the women's doubles.

Landers-Murphy will also play the mixed doubles with rising star Paul Coll, who will form one half of a youthful men's doubles pairing with 21-year-old Lance Beddoes.

Knight will link up with Campbell Grayson in the other men's doubles pairing.

Another young player in fine form is recent Northern Territory Open winner 22-year-old Megan Craig, who will partner Kylie Lindsay in the women's doubles.

Squash has been on the Commonwealth Games programme since Kuala Lumpur in 1998 and has been a relatively successful sport for New Zealand.

Glen Wilson and Sarah Cook won mixed bronze in 1998 and Wilson followed that with mixed gold at Manchester 2002 partnering Leilani Rorani, who also claimed women's doubles gold with Carol Owens.

Owens completed a successful Games in Manchester by securing silver in the singles event.

At Melbourne 2006, Shelley Kitchen came away with two medals of her own as she took singles bronze and partnered Tamsyn Leevey to silver in the women's doubles.

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games take place from July 23 to August 3.
