As part of the new deal, Renault-Nissan are offering the winners of the online tournaments being held in conjunction with the World Mind Games a Nissan Tiida compact car and a Renault Koleos compact SUV.

China is Nissan's single largest passenger car market worldwide, with 1.25 million vehicles sold in 2012, and last week long-time partner Renault announced that it will soon begin industrial operations in the country.

"As the Renault-Nissan Alliance continues to invest for the future growth of the Chinese automotive industry, it makes sense for us to expand our visibility through supporting important cultural and sporting events," said Renault-Nissan's director of marketing communication Simon Sproule.

"We are proud to support the people of China and the city of Beijing as they host this year's SportAccord World Mind Games."

The new deal was welcomed by Marius Vizer, President of SportAccord.

"We are delighted that the Renault-Nissan Alliance will be joining as a new partner of the third edition of the SportAccord World Mind Games," he said.

"Renault-Nissan's association with the Event and the online tournaments will provide an opportunity to reach millions of loyal mind sports fans in China and around the world."

This is the second multi-sport event Vizer has overseen since he replaced Hein Verbruggen as SportAccord President in May, following the World Combat Games in St Petersburg in October.

He plans to launch other multi-sport events in the near feature, including Beach Games and Urban Games.

The World Mind Games will feature bridge, chess, draughts, Go and Xiangqi.

"World Mind Games are very important for us," Vizer said.

"This multi-sport competition is one we love to improve each time it is hosted.

"We hope that the Olympic and non-Olympic multi-sport competitions will continue to develop on the global scale and inspire and entertain sports communities, media, international federations and fans."
