Founded in 1997, Star Alliance is the world's "first and largest global airline alliance" and consists of a wide variety of member airlines from all over the world. 

Under the partnership, delegates attending the Convention will be entitled to special discount fares on many of these member airlines - at reduced rates of up to 20 per cent.

Among the 28 participating in the partnership will be Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, South African Airways and US Airways as well as Turkish Airlines.

The partnership is the latest to be unveiled ahead of the 12th edition of the Convention due to take place in the Susesi Luxury Resort in Belek from April 6 until April 11. 

Held in a different city every year, SportAccord Convention is a "unique opportunity for international sporting leaders to engage with business, featuring a dynamic exhibition as well as the annual general meetings of governing bodies of world sport."

Next years expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates and will take on the theme of "Sport's New Frontier".
