Ladies day at Birmingham

January 3 - Britain’s three leading ladies, including world heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis (pictured), will compete at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on February 20, it was announced today.





Baala to receive Olympic 1500m medal next month

December 22 - Mehdi Baala (pictured second right) will receive the Olympic 1500 metres bronze medal he is due from last year's Beijing Games  following the disqualification of drugs cheat Rashid Ramzi at a special ceremony in Paris next month, the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) announced today.





Willis to chase double at Commonwealth Games

December 18 - Olympic 1500 metres medallist Nick Willis (pictured) says he wants to win the 800 and 1500 metres double at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi next year, which will boost organisers of the event in the Indian capital following a succession of big-name athletes claiming that they would not compete.

December 14 - Britain has effectively downgraded next year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi to a development event after UK Athletics head coach Charles van Commenee (pictured) made it clear that his main focus in 2010 will be fixed on the European Championships in Barcelona as he continues preparations for the London 2012 Olympics.
