April 18 - Australia, Sweden, Canada and Great Britain, four of the best wheelchair rugby teams in the world, are meeting in the International Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament this week – in a competition that will serve as the London 2012 test event for the sport.
November 8 - Australia and Japan have qualified for the London 2012 Paralympic Games wheelchair rugby competition after coming first and second respectively at the Asia Oceania Championships in Icheon, South Korea.

October 4 - Sweden underlined their status as favourites for the Wheelchair Rugby European Championships with a 64-44 win over the Netherlands in Nottwil, Switzerland, as they begin their campaign to qualify for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
September 15 - The Great Britain wheelchair rugby team showed exactly why they will be strong medal contenders at the London 2012 Paralympic Games next year as they claimed second place at the 2011 GB Cup in Cardiff.
July 29 - Australia's wheelchair rugby squad are confident of clinching a qualifying spot for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and avenging their defeat in the gold medal match of Beijing 2008 when they lost out to the United States.
At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Britain's Hugh "Jumbo" Edwards won the gold medal in the coxless pairs event with Lewis Clive and a second gold in the coxless four on the same day. During World War Two it was his rowing ability which saved his life. While serving as a squadron leader with the Royal Air Force's Coastal Command in 1943, he was forced to ditch his plane in the Atlantic Ocean. He rowed a dingy four miles through a minefield to safety. He was the only member of the plane's crew to survive.
