151427595May 30 - Australia's victorious wheelchair rugby squad from the 2012 Paralympic Games will compete for the first time since they took gold in London at next week's Denmark Challenge, with the seven top-ranked nations in the world all set to take part.

The Steelers will face competition from host nation Denmark, along with Paralympic silver and bronze medallists respectively, Canada and the United States.

Co-captains Ryley Batt and Jason Lees are aiming to launch full-scale attack on their rivals to assert the dominance they showed at last summer's Games.

"The US and Canada are the hardest teams in world," said Batt.

"We've got to go out all guns blazing and ruin their confidence right at the start, boost our own confidence and get some wins on the board."

Lees echoed the sentiments, stating that hanging onto their ranking as the world's number one team was the key aim of the tournament in Denmark, which get underway on June 4.

"We need to win this to keep our number one ranking." he said.

"We've got to protect that.

"It's taken a long time to get it and we don't want to lose it so we have to be the best team in the world,"

"In London we prepared and peaked perfectly; it was the best rugby we'd ever played.

"But that doesn't really matter now because we're 10 months on and have to do it all over again,"

The Denmark Challenge will take place in the city of Odense, and will serve as a test event for the 2014 Wheelchair Rugby World Championships, which are also set to be played in the Danish city.

And head coach Brad Dubberley thinks the tournament will provide a welcome return to action for his side, and a taster of what they can expect from the World Championships next year.

"It'll be great to check out the whole venue and play internationally again." he said.

"The team's been back full swing into training and if things go to plan, we should be able to continue our dominance and set the benchmark for where every team wants to be."

Australia have been drawn against world number three side US in Pool A, along with Sweden, who are ranked sixth in the world, and hosts Denmark, who are the lowest ranked team in the tournament at number 12.

In Pool B, Paralympic silver medallists Canada will take on the world's number four and five ranked teams: Japan and Great Britain respectively, along with Belgium.
