The announcement follows the conclusion of the four-day 2015 British Para-Swimming International, which doubled as the British trials, at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, where the World Championships will be held.

Ellie Simmonds has been confirmed as part of the British team and will attempt to defend the three titles she won at the 2013 World Championships in Montreal and Simmonds believes the support in Glasgow could help the British team.

"It is a big difference being in Glasgow, it is a home for the British athletes, having hosted the Commonwealth Games," Simmonds told insidethegames.

"I am really happy to have qualified for the World Champions and my main gold is achieving personal bests."

Simmonds has become one of Britain's most recognised since winning double gold at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics, before repeating the feat at London 2012.

The 20-year-old has tipped teammates Hannah Russell, Bethany Firth and Andrew Mullen for success at the World Championship stating that they are "all great hopefuls for the British team in the build up to the Rio 2016 Paralympics."

Firth will make her international debut for Britain after the 19-year-old broke three world records in the S14 200m individual medley, 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke events at the trials, while Russell set a new world record in the S14 100m backstroke and Mullen claimed a new European record in S5 50m butterfly.

In addition to Mullen, Scott Quin, Sascha Kindred, Ollie Hynd, Jack Thomas, James Crisp, Tom Hamer, Jonathan Fox make up the men's side of the team.

Claire Cashmore, Alice Tai, Jessica-Jane Applegate, Stephanie Slater, Charlotte Henshaw, Tully Kearney and Susie Rodgers complete the women's part of the squad.

Despite having fewer swimmers than in previous British squads National Performance Director Chris Furber believes the team have the potential to produce results in Glasgow.

"The team we have selected is strong and reflects the goal of the competition which is to win gold medals and qualifying slots for Rio," Furber stated.

"The expectation is that the standard of Para-swimming in the lead up to Rio is only going to improve exponentially and we have based our standards this year on this which is why we have a smaller team than previously in this cycle.

"Having a smaller team allows us to give focused and individually tailored support to swimmers who have demonstrated gold or multi-medal potential."
