The Paralympic division of the United States Olympic Committee also revealed the 12 athletes named to the B team, alongside an additional 15 members named to the emerging and military teams.

"With Rio right around the corner, we are thrilled to have such a gifted group of athletes," said Queenie Nichols, High Performance Director for US Paralympics swimming.

"Our 2015 roster is made up of not only decorated and consistent veterans but also new faces who continue to impress.

"I'm eager to see what 2015 holds for this group of outstanding athletes."

The National A Team is not lacking in experience with seven veterans names to the squad.

Among the 14 athletes, six also won world titles in 2013 - Cortney Jordan, Jessica Long, Rebecca Meyers, Roy Perkins, Tucker Dupree and Ian Silverman.

Long is the most decorated female athlete having collected 17 Paralympic medals, including 12 gold, while she is the current world record holder in 13 Paralympic events, including one as part of a relay team.

Perkins holds this honour for the men's side with a total Paralympic haul of six medals, including one gold.

Elsewhere, London 2012 Paralympic Games gold medallist and US Navy veteran Brad Snyder makes a welcome return to the roster this year.

Snyder took a brief hiatus from competitive swimming following the Games and made his return at the 2014 US Paralympics Swimming Spring National Championships/Spring CanAms.

Letticia Martinez, Colleen Young and Curtis Lovejoy also made the A team for the second straight year.

Michelle Konkoly, who was initially named to the 2014 B team but jumped to the national A team for 2014 Pan-Pacific Para-Swimming Championships, also returns to the roster.

Tharon Drake and Cody Bureau moved up from last year's B team, as well as Kayla Wheeler who made the jump from the 2014 emerging team.

The National A Team will make its first competitive appearance of the season at the Can-Am Para-Swimming Championships from March 20 to 22 in Toronto, Canada, a city which also plays host to the 2015 Parapan American Games from August 7 to 15.

The team is also scheduled to compete at the 2015 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships in Glasgow from July 13 to 19.
