Brazil opened their world title defence with a 1-0 win against Turkey ©IBSATournament favourites Brazil and Argentina got their campaigns off to a winning start at the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championship in Tokyo.

The Brazilians beat Turkey 1-0 in Group, B but it could have been a different story had their European opponents managed to convert their chances, including two eight-metre penalties.

As for their South American rivals, a single goal from Fraulán Padillo proved to be enough to edge out European champions Spain in Group C.

China beat Colombia 1-0 in the other Group B encounter, while South Korea and Germany played out a goalless draw in Group C.

Tomorrow's action sees the return of Group A as Paraguay meet France and hosts Japan go up against Morocco.

Brazil play their second group match against Colombia, while Germany face Spain as both teams go in search of a first win.
