151192281April 19 - Ten-time Paralympic dressage gold medallist Lee Pearson has joined a line-up of over 20 athletes confirmed for the ParalympicsGB Sports Fest at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield next week.


Pearson has won gold medals at the last four Paralympic Games, as well as six World Championship titles and three European titles over a glittering career, that also saw him made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to equestrianism and to disabled sport in 2009.

"I'm very much looking forward to Sports Fest, it is a fantastic opportunity for people to get involved in sport", he said.

"It's very important to have days like this, giving people the opportunity to try out new sports and hopefully inspire more people to get involved".

Other athletes confirmed to attend this week include London 2012 gold and double silver-medal-winning equestrian rider Sophie Wells and powerlifter Ali Jawad.

These athletes join the likes of Jody Cundy, Hannah Cockroft and Dame Sarah Storey on the line-up, as well as Sports Fest ambassadors; wheelchair basketball player Maddie Thompson and London 2012 table tennis silver medallist Will Bayley.

"It's great to see that so many of my fellow athletes are now set to join me at Sports Fest" said Bayley.

"With just over one week to go, it looks set to be a fantastic event and I hope we see a great turn out in Sheffield."

Athletes will participate in "Meet the Medallist" sessions, where attendees will have the chance to speak to the Paralympic stars, get autographs and have photo's taken.

The athletes will also be in the main hall, encouraging people to try new sports.

The second ParalympicsGB Sports Fest is due to take place at the EIS in Sheffield on April 26 and 27; to register your attendance and find out more, click here.
