Davis Muffy 800x375 2012July 5 - Triple Paralympic gold medallist Muffy Davis heads a strong United States squad for the International Cycling Union (UCI) Para-cycling World Championships at Baie-Comeau in Canada next month and will compete along with 14 other London 2012 Paralmypians, including London 2012 medallists Allison Jones and Joe Berenyi.

The roster features 26 athletes, four of whom are pilots for blind and partially sighted riders, with the majority having represented the US at London 2012, where they finished second in the cycling medal table behind host nation Great Britain.

A total of 12 male and 14 female athletes make up the squad after gaining selection through their performances at the Cycling Para-cycling Road Race National Championships in Madison, Wisconsin, yesterday

"The level of competition among our athletes continues to rise, and I was impressed by the performances of all 98 Para-cyclists who participated in the National Time Trial Championships yesterday," said US Paralympics cycling high performance director Ian Lawless.

"Our partnership with USA Cycling continues to showcase the abilities of our athletes on the national stage, and has helped us select a very strong Team USA roster for the World Championships."

Paralympians Will Groulx, Steven Peace, Clark Rachfal, Oz Sanchez, David Swanson and Matthew Updike are joined by Alan Keith, Jeffrey Martin, William Lachenauer, Jonathan Copsey and Matthew Bigos in the male athletes selected to compete in Canada in the event which is due to take place between August 29 and September 2.

Mackenzie Woodring, Megan Fisher, Alicia Dana, Monica Bascio, Greta Neimanas, and Karissa Whitsell are the female Paralympians selected, and will compete along with Shawn Cheshire, Samantha Heinrich, Jennifer Triplett, Lisa Turnbull, Rachael Scdoris and Jamie Whitmore.
