The Para-athletes are part of 33-strong athletics team set to participate in Glasgow next month featuring the young and old of Welsh talent.

Davies will be the prize jewel in the Para-team following his world-record breaking performance at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Grand Prix event in Grosseto, Italy, last week.

During the event, the double world champion broke the 12-year-old discus world record, set by South Africa's Fanie Lombaard, as he threw an impressive 48.69 metres.

The Welshman will be joined by London 2012 4x100 metres relay bronze medallist Olivia Breen, who switched to the F38 long jump event at the start of this season.

Paralympic veteran Tracey Hinton has also been selected to the team with the six-time Paralympic medallist set to compete in the visually impaired 100m T11 event alongside guide Steffan Hughes.

London 2012 discus bronze medallist Beverley Jones will also represent the team in the F37 long jump event, while Rhys Jones will compete in the 100m T37, subject to fitness.

"This is a particularly talented squad of athletes who will be representing Team Wales," said Jon Morgan, executive director at Disability Sport Wales.

"We very much hope they will be able to bring their experience of Paralympic, World and European championships to the fore when competing in Glasgow."
