Jonnie Peacock 3June 11 - Britain's reigning 100 metres T44 Paralympic champion Jonnie Peacock has dismissed the threat posed by rival Richard Browne at next month's International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Athletics Championships in Lyon despite the American equalling his world record of 10.85sec at a race in Florida.

Browne, a silver medallist behind Peacock at London 2012, ran the blistering time at the Star Athletics Sprint Meet in Monteverde, although the event on Saturday (June 8) was not an IPC sanctioned competition so the time will not stand as an official world record.

Nevertheless, it illustrated the great from that the 21-year-old from Mississippi but Peacock took to twitter to claim he was not concerned.

"Do it when it counts and from the front then maybe I'll take notice," said the 20-year-old from Cambridge.

Peacock's tweet appears to be a direct reference to London 2012, where he led from the front gold in a time of 10.90, leaving Browne to settle for silver in what was then a personal best time of 11.03.

Peacock did, though, congratulate Browne on breaking the 11 second barrier and admitted it has made him even more excited ahead of their inevitable showdown at the World Championships.

"Congrats on the run, glad to see a sub 11," Peacock tweeted Brown.

"Can't wait to get racing big man!! #respectthespeed.

"My legs have the jitters! Just wanna go out and runnnn!! Have to keep it bottled up until the right time though!!"

Browne responded: "@JonniePeacock thanks man, C u at worlds. We'll give them another show!!!"

At London 2012, the 100m T44 final was one of the highlights of the Paralympics with all eight finishers running under 12 seconds, and just 0.18 separating Peacock in first and South Africa's Arnu Fourie in third.

The final at the 100m T44 final World Championships in Lyon is scheduled for July 23.

Browne will aim to make the US team for Lyon and potentially break Peacock's world record this weekend when he competes at the US Paralympics Track and Field National Championships which take place from June 14 until 16 in San Antonio, Texas.
