The 21-year-old from Mississippi, who lost his right leg in an accident in 2009, won a Paralympic silver medal in the men's 100-metre T44 final at London 2012 as he finished behind Peacock in what widely considered the race of the Games.

But Browne has made it clear that he is now targeting a victory over Peacock at the World Championships after he ran a blistering 10.85 at the Star Athletics Sprint Meet in Monteverde.

Given that the event in Florida was not an IPC sanctioned competition, the time itself will not stand as an official world record but it displays clearly the scintillating form the American is in.

"My time today only motivates me to go that much harder!!" Browne tweeted following the race in a clear show of his intent ahead of Lyon.

The next major stop for Brown will be the US Paralympics Track and Field National Championships in San Antonio, Texas, which are due take place from June 14 until 16.

The event itself will serve as a qualifier for the World Championships in Lyon and Brown will be one of the main attractions alongside reigning 100m T44 world champion Jerome Singleton and compatriots Blake Leeper and Jarryd Wallace.

Then will come the 2013 IPC World Athletics Championships from July 19 until 28.

The Championships will be the biggest gathering of international athletes since London 2012, with 1,300 athletes from 90 countries expected to compete.
