Oscar Pistorius head and shouldersMay 26 - Oscar Pistorius, who is accused of murdering model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has been fined for not paying his taxes.

The six-time Paralympic champion had been forced to reveal his assets during his bail hearing.

South Africa's tax authorities carried out an audit and fined the double-amputeesprinter "less than one million rand" (£69,000/$105,000/€81,00), which he duly paid.

In a court affidavit in February, Pistorius declared he earned about $631,000 (£415000/€486,000) a year and owned three properties and a vacant plot.

However, the runner is reported to have bought another house worth around $1 million (£678,000/€793,000), which was not declared.

Pistorius has admitted shooting dead Steenkamp, 29, at his luxury home in Pretoria on Valentines Day but claims he mistook her for a burglar.

The 26-year-old is due to appear in court on June 4 for a hearing, during which the state is expected to ask for a postponement so it can carry out further investigations.

Pistorius's uncle, Arnold Pistorius, gave only a four-word statement when asked about the tax allegations: "Oscar is tax compliant."
