The giant emblem at Tower Bridge (pictured below) replaces the Olympic Rings that was displayed during the recent Games and will remain in place until September 15, one week after the end of the Paralympics on September 9.

Meanwhile, a similar Agitos was unveiled at the entrance of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square (pictured top) during the London Paralympic Flame celebrations in the area today.

The symbols will remain until September 12 and the two unveilings follow that of the first giant Agitos in the United Kingdom outside Cardiff City Hall last week.

Two more huge Agitos are now set to be unveiled in the UK before the start of the Paralympics on September 29.

Each aluminium symbol measures 16 metres by 12.5 metres and will offer a perfect photo opportunity for people during the Paralympics.


"I am sure the Agitos will inspire and excite spectators and athletes looking to play their part in the Games," said London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe.

"We are hugely excited about this incredible summer of sport continuing and welcoming athletes from around the world."

Coloured in red, blue, and green, the three agitos, shaped as asymmetric crescents around a single central point, symbolise motion and emphasise the role the Paralympic Movement plays in bringing together athletes from across the globe.

The symbol – launched at the Closing Ceremony of the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games – reflects the Paralympic motto, "Spirit in Motion", that represents the strong will of every Paralympian.
