More than 400 injured service personnel from 14 nations are set to take part in nine adaptive sports in an event which takes its inspiration from the Warrior Games in the United States.

To celebrate the impending Games, the words "I am Invcitus" were emblazoned across the iconic landmark on the River Thames last night.

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - at the heart of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - will host the sports.

Service personnel will compete in athletics, archery, wheelchair basketball, road cycling, powerlifting, indoor rowing, wheelchair rugby, swimming and sitting volleyball.

Speaking at Tower Bridge Sir Keith Mills, chairman of the Invictus Games, said: "It was just six months back when Prince Harry launched the Invictus Games at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

"Now one week from the Opening Ceremony it's fitting to see the emblem of the Invictus Games up in lights.

"We're ready for four days of inspirational sport and I'd urge anyone who hasn't yet got tickets to get them fast.

"Ultimately we want to shine a light on all those who serve their country and on those who are now on a journey of recovery."

Tickets can be bought from here.

The Opening Ceremony is due to take place on Wednesday (September 10), with the Closing Concert on September 14 headlined by the Foo Fighters.
