The IPC has announced the shortlist for the June Athlete of the Month ©Getty ImagesThe International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has today announced the shortlist for June's Athlete of the Month award, with the public now able to vote for their favourite of the five athletes on the list.

Leading the way is Bosnia and Herzegovina's sitting volleyball star Safet Alibašić, who led his team to gold at the 2014 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships.

Alibašić was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament after playing an instrumental role in his team's 100 per cent record throughout the competition, which ran from June 15 to 21 in Elbląg, Poland.

Australia's Ryley Batt also made the list after his performance at the 2014 Wheelchair Rugby Canada Cup.

Batt scored an impressive 43 points in the Cup final as the Australians beat hosts Canada 62-54 to claim top honours at the tournament.

For his efforts in the final, Batt also landed the Most Value Player award.

Yui Kamiji's double success at the 2014 French Open in Roland Garros earned her a spot on the shortlist.

The up-and-coming Japanese wheelchair tennis star secured her first Grand Slam singles title with a straight sets victory over The Netherlands' Aniek Van Koot, before doubling her title tally with success in the women's doubles alongside Great Britain's Jordanne Whiley.

Following Canada's success at last week's Women's World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Toronto, Janet McLachlan also makes the IPC's Athlete of the Month top five.

McLachlan was hugely influential for the hosts throughout the tournament, finishing top scorer for the whole competition, including in the final game against Germany.

Slovakia's Veronika Vadovicova is the final name on the list following the double European champion's recent success at the IPC Shooting World Cup in Fort Benning, United States.

During the event, Vadovicova claimed three gold medals in the R2, women's 10 metre air rifle standing SH1, R3, mixed 10m air rifle prone SH1 and R8, women's 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 events, doubling her 2014 IPC Shooting World Cup wins to six.

The 31-year-old also bettered her own finals world record in R2 in the very first event to post a score of 207.5.

The public now has until noon Central European Summer Time on July 10 to vote for which athlete they think had the best performance last month.
