With the temperature soaring to above 30 degrees Celsius for the first time on their trip, the British athletes must have welcomed the cool waters of the pool as they looked to build on yesterday's success.

Adding to the gold medal she has already taken, Amy Marren dominated the field in the S9 100 metres freestyle to secure her second gold of the competition.

She was at it again in the 50m breaststroke, taking first place ahead of teammate Alice Tai, who finished in second with a personal best time.

Hannah Russell repeated the feat she accomplished on the first day of competition to win a further two gold medals - this time in the S12 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke events.

Matthew Wylie completed the third and final brace of the day for the British swimmers, securing gold in the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.

Triple Paralympic medallist, Russell believes the trip to Brazil is giving her and her teammates some great experience ahead of Rio 2016.

"It's a 25 metre pool and some of the conditions are different to what we are used to back at home but it's a great experience to just be out here and see something different," she said.

"Coming out here a few years before the Paralympics gives us a bit of experience.

"Getting used to the flight, looking at the culture, training and competing outdoors - so hopefully if people like myself get picked for Rio it will be a great experience."

Following his dominant performance in yesterday's opening group game, BS4 boccia star Kieran Steer faced a much tougher test in the form of fellow Briton Jamie McCowan.

McCowan, who did not have a game on the opening day of the competition, managed to edge past the Scotsman to record a 3-1 victory.

Spurred on by the victory McCowan then went on to beat Brazilian competitor Leonardo Avila Ferreira 15-1 in another group match.

"It's been a really productive day I learnt a lot of things about my game," McCowan said.

"I've had a lot of chair changes recently so it was good to put them to the test and competition."

The BS3 classification saw comfortable wins for both Patrick Wilson and Jacob Thomas, who finished their games with scores of 14-1 and 21-0 respectively.

The goalball team suffered a disappointing defeat to Brazil's Federal District, losing the game 9-7 in what proved an incredibly tight affair.
