CIBC is aiming to help Canadian Paralympians reach the podiumOctober 28 - The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) has struck a new sponsorship deal with CIBC to support the nation's athletes through the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and Rio 2016.

As the National Paralympic Committee's exclusive banking partner, CIBC is now building on the partnership with this four-year agreement to help Paralympians reach the podium.

"This a very exciting day for Paralympic sport in Canada with the announcement of this partnership," CPC President Gaétan Tardif said.

"CIBC's support will be a great boost to Canadian athletes with a disability, from playground to podium."

Multiple Paralympic swimming gold medallist and CIBC Team Next mentor Stéphanie Dixon, who is hoping to compete for Canada as part of the Para-Nordic skiing relay team at Sochi 2014, also welcomed the news of the deal.

"This partnership is a huge vote of confidence from CIBC," she said.

"This will further inspire youth and other Canadians with a disability to be leaders and achieve their goals."

CIBC is no stranger to sport sponsorship as the lead partner of the Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games and founder of the Team Next programme, which is assisting 67 developing athletes, including Dixon, as they aim to medal at major international tournaments.

"As part of our continued commitment to sports and community development, CIBC is thrilled to support the Canadian Paralympic Committee and their dedication to developing champions who inspire us all," said Laura Dottori-Attanasio, CIBC's senior executive vice-president and chief risk officer.

"We look forward to cheering for these talented Canadian athletes and celebrating their success as they pursue their dreams of representing our country on the world stage."
