The announcement was made at Brown's school, South Kamloops Secondary, and she admitted she was delighted that she will be such a prominent feature at the Bergisel Stadium where the Opening Ceremony will take place on January 13.

"It's been my dream," said Brown.

"This is such a crazy honour and I am so thrilled."

Brown, who has been selected to play third on the Canadian curling team at Innsbruck 2012, has already underlined her undoubted promise in the sport after starring as skip of the gold medal winning team at the 2011 Canada Games.

Brown has also won the past two British Columbia High School Curling Championships, as well as the 2010 British Columbia Winter Games.

Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) President Marcel Aubut said Brown was worthy of the accolade and will receive huge support from her teammates in Austria.

"Corryn and the entire Canadian Winter Youth Olympic team will make Canada proud," said Aubut.

"The Canadian Olympic Committee and the entire country will be cheering them on."

Brown will represent a Canadian team in Innsbruck featuring 51 athletes, as well as 21 coaches and officials.

The team will compete across 13 sports in the event which will take place from January 13-22.

"This team is very special," said Beckie Scott the Chef de Mission for the Canadian 2012 Youth Olympic Team and double Olympic medallist in cross country skiing.

"They are the first Canadian Winter Youth Olympic team and that is something that they can say for the rest of their lives."

The inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games will see almost 1,100 athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 represent over 60 countries to compete in the same sports that will feature at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
