The three-minute video features clips of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, as well as Sochi 2014, and of Chinese stars, including short track short track speed skater Wang Meng, the country's most successful ever Winter Olympic athlete having won four gold medals.

It also confirms the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Beijing 2022 would take place in the Birds Nest Stadium, while curling would be held in the Water Cube, the swimming venue where United States star Michael Phelps won eight gold medals six years ago.

While ice events would take place in the capital city, snow events would be held 200 kilometres away in the city of Zhangjiakou, with the video highlighting how a high speed rail line, reducing the distance between the two from four hours to 50 minutes, would be a major infrastructural project associated with the Games.

A Beijing 2022 Facebook page has also been launched and can be found here.

Twitter page, accessible here, has also been opened.

All have been timed to coincide with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowing bidders to promote themselves globally in the nine-month build-up to the vote at its Session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31, 2015.

This comes at a midway point in a depleted contest in which - following the withdrawal of Kraków, Lviv, Oslo and Stockholm - the Chinese capital is facing opposition only from Kazakh city Almaty.

While Almaty's bid remains very quiet and low key, Beijing have also recently appointed American communication and public relations giants Weber Shandwick in a bid to boost their international coverage.

The company has vast experience in the Olympic Movement, enjoying recent bidding success when working for Sochi 2014 and Tokyo 2020.

They also worked for Munich 2018, the German city defeated by Pyeongchang in the race for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

More Beijing 2022 promotional activity is planned for this week's Association of National Olympic Committees General Assembly in Bangkok.
