FIS Freestyle World Cup cancelledFebruary 3 - Sochi 2014 is under pressure to secure the venues for its Winter Olympic test events involving the ski halfpipe, aerials, moguls and ski cross following the cancellation of this weekend's International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle World Cup due to a lack of snow.

According to a statement by the FIS, the Freestyle World Cup - the Sochi 2014 ski slopestyle test event - could not go ahead due to "a lack of snow and continuous warm and rainy weather" following an inspection on Saturday (February 2).

The statement added that Sochi 2014 was "undertaking all possible efforts to secure the conduction of the remaining events, the ski halfpipe, aerials, moguls and the ski cross".

The organisers and the FIS are also reviewing the possibilities of rescheduling the ski slopestyle event later in the season.

It is not the first setback for the Sochi freestyle skiing course, which had to be partially rebuilt last year after landslips had affected some parts of it.
