formans fish_island_riviera_16-05-12May 16 - The luxurious Forman's Fish Island – the closest venue to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford – has announced the signing of a major deal which will see swimwear giant Speedo based there during London 2012.

The announcement comes as the high profile restaurant and entertainment venue headed by managing director Lance Forman also unveiled plans for a distinctive Fish Island Riviera, which will offer corporate hospitality for the Games.

Adjacent to Forman's Salmon Smokery, the Fish Island Riviera (pictured above) will consist of 30 individual suites including a balcony offering views of the Olympic Park and food from renowned caterers The Admirable Crichton.

Each suite can be customised to the client's specifications, offering a fully branded environment for the duration of the Games.

Fish Island Riviera includes car parking, drop off facilities and a dedicated water taxi for guests.

Behind the venue, there will be beach club atmosphere during the day complete with cocktails, palm trees and a beach volleyball court to keep guests entertained.

At night, Fish Island Riviera will transform into a party venue for guests, while there will be a fleet of yachts available that guests can hire out on the waters of the River Lea.

Speedo is the first company to announce it will be based at Forman's Fish Island Riviera during the summer and it will occupy two adjoining suites during London 2012 which will be used to cater for its corporate guests as well as swimming stars competing at the Games.

"With many of our clients, partners and stakeholders set to converge on London this year, it was vital for us to find a base which combines a stunning and memorable location, coupled with top class catering and service," said the President of Speedo International David Robinson.

"We're delighted to have secured all of those things with Forman's Fish Island Riviera, and we look forward to welcoming our guests later this summer."

Forman (pictured above) admitted that he was pleased to finally secure a deal after a long period trying to sell his venue.

"We're delighted to announce that Speedo will be among the world class brands to establish a base at Forman's Fish Island Riviera at this once-in-a-lifetime moment for the city of London, and we look forward to providing its guests with a fittingly world class entertainment experience during their time here," he said.

Forman himself became somewhat of a legendary figure in the East End of London after he triumphed in a highly-publicised legal battle with former London Mayor Ken Livingstone.

Forman's original premises were located exactly where the Olympic Stadium now stands and he was given a compulsory purchase order by the London Development Agency (LDA) to make room for the Games.

It was suggested the fourth generation salmon smoking family business move well away from the Olympic Park but Forman resiliently stood his ground to secure a stunning location on the banks of the River Lea, offering premier views of the new stadium.
