Using the Centricity Practice Solution, doctors and trainers will be able to quickly access medical records to provide targeted care to Team USA competitors at this summer's Olympic and Paralympics, as well as eliminating the need to ship pallets of paper records to the Games.

"The introduction of GE's EMR technology is a big step forward for the USOC sports medicine program," said Dr Bill Moreau, USOC managing director of sports medicine.

"EMR technology will allow us to better monitor and analyse the health of Team USA athletes, not only when they receive care at our facilities, but also when they are competing and training around the world.

"Our elite athletes have dedicated themselves to performing at the highest levels in sport and I believe this technology will help us to support them with the highest levels of sports medicine."

US women's football player Alex Morgan (pictured below) said: "As an athlete, my health is a very important driver of my performance on the field.

"My playing schedule takes me all over the world and no matter where I am I need to have the best possible medical care.


"Knowing that my doctors will have quick and easy access to my health information puts my mind at ease.

"It allows me to not worry about my health and instead focus on the task at hand – in this case, winning the gold for Team USA in London."

Meanwhile, the extended sponsorship deal between GE and the USOC will cover Sochi 2014, Russia 2018 and Pyeongchang 2018, cementing a partnership that dates back to January 2005.
