BOA chief executive, Bill Sweeney, says the organisation could not ask for a better partner than Deloitte ©Getty ImagesThe British Olympic Association (BOA) has announced Deloitte as its official professional services provider leading up to Rio 2016.

Deloitte first became a partner of the BOA in 2008 and supported the organisation through its preparations for London 2012.

Renowned as one of the "Big Four" professional services firms, Deloitte will provide the BOA with its expertise through a number of secondees working at the heart of the organisation, leading the programme planning.

Planning for the first Games in a South American city is reaching a critical stage and over the next two years the BOA will seek to draw upon Deloitte's expertise and experience to maximise potential at the showpiece event, they claimed.

"We have every confidence that Rio 2016 will be a great Games, although not without some logistical challenges and there is an obvious need for world class project management and meticulous planning," said BOA chief executive Bill Sweeney.

"We could not ask for a better partner than Deloitte, who will help us to ensure the environment in Rio is the best it can be for our athletes."

Following the success of London 2012, Rio 2016 presents a very different task for the BOA, with many sports entering uncharted territory in Brazil.

"We are proud to be once again working with the BOA up to 2016; it is a strong statement of our enduring support of Team GB," said David Sproul, chief executive and senior partner of Deloitte.

"With our wealth of experience gained as the official professional services provider to London 2012, coupled with the breadth and scale of our offering as part of a global network, we will help the BOA negotiate the challenges of taking a team from a successful home Games to a completely different environment.

"If we get the planning right, then we can help to give our athletes the best chance possible of making history."

In addition to its partnership with the BOA, Deloitte also has a long-standing partnership with the British Paralympic Association through to 2016.
