Azerbaijan Airlines boarding passes will show the Baku 2015 logo ©Baku 2015Branding for Baku 2015 will feature on Azerbaijan Airlines boarding passes as effort to maximise exposure rises with less than six months to go until the inaugural European Games.

This announcement follows yesterday's unveiling of six international ambassadors for Baku 2015 from rhythmic gymnastics, canoe sprint and 3x3 basketball, with more set to be unveiled over coming weeks.

But the boarding pass branding, which  comes after Azerbaijan Airlines was unveiled as the sixth Official Partner of the Games in September, should be an effective means to widen the profile beyond the sports world, with workers and tourists among those set to be exposed.

The colourful logo will adorn more than 800,000 of the airline's boarding passes between today and the finale of the European Games on June 28 next year.

This will include both domestic and international departures on flights leaving from and arriving into the host nation, with these destinations spanning London, Milan, Rome, Beijing and New York City.

"We are delighted to see our colourful logo and brand being shared with the world thanks to Azerbaijan Airlines and their boarding passes," said Baku 2015 chief operating officer Simon Clegg.

"As the national carrier of Azerbaijan, they will play an important role in the coming months in promoting the inaugural European Games as well as bringing the best European athletes to compete in Baku next year."

As part of the Official Partner agreement, Baku 2015 will also feature on in-flight movies and magazines to help increase awareness with an international audience, while the European Games will also have a "significant presence" within Baku's Heydar Aliyev International Airport as visitors arrive next June.

The company, which carries more than 1.7 million passengers per year and serves 38 cities around the world, is planning to increase their number of daily flights into Baku next year due to the Games.

"We are very proud to be carrying the Baku 2015 branding on our boarding passes and helping support the European Games, which is a historic moment for our capital city and for the entire country," said Arif Mammadov, vice-president of Azerbaijan Airlines.

"We will help to transport athletes, officials and spectators to Azerbaijan for the event and we want to share our excitement with our passengers as we approach the spectacular Opening Ceremony."
