Nar Mobile has been named official mobile telecommunications service provider for the Baku 2015 European Games ©Baku 2015Azerbaijani mobile phone operator Nar Mobile was today named the official mobile telecommunications service provider for the Baku 2015 European Games.

The agreement sees Nar Mobile become the first national partner of the inaugural European Games, in a deal which it is hoped will promote the event extensively across the whole of Azerbaijan.

Nar Mobile, the fastest growing mobile operator in Azerbaijan, will assist in raising awareness for the Games through multi-platform promotional campaigns, which will include opportunities for their customers to win tickets to the event.

Following the signing of the agreement, Azad Rahimov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports and chief executive of Baku 2015, said: "This is an important agreement which will see Nar Mobile bring their extensive telecommunications expertise to support the delivery of the first-ever European Games.

"It is vital to have Azerbaijani companies involved to produce an innovative and inclusive event that will be of long-standing benefit to both Baku and Azerbaijan."

Nar Mobile is a brand for commercial activities of Azerfon, a mobile telecommunications company launched in April 2007.

Since its creation, Nar Mobile has carried out large-scale social initiatives and has supported many projects promoting national art, culture and sport

In 2011, the company's advertising prominently featured Ell and Nikki, winners of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

The company will use its national coverage, which he claims reaches 80 per cent of Azerbaijan, to encourage engagement and interaction with its customers to help them feel connected to the European Games, officials claimed.

"The European Games will be a wonderful event that everyone in Azerbaijan will enjoy and want to be a part of," said Kent McNeley, chief executive of Nar Mobile.

"We know our customers are proud of their heritage and of the nation's athletes, and it is an honour to be playing such a significant role in what will be an important moment in Azerbaijan's history.

"We have the technical capability and innovation to ensure the European Games are a ground-breaking event in both a sporting and technological sense."

Simon Clegg, chief operating officer at Baku 2015, added: "It is wonderful to have signed Nar Mobile to help keep the Baku 2015 European Games connected.

"Telecommunications is a vast operation which is of vital importance to the Games and Nar Mobile have the technical capability and know-how to support our work and help to deliver a successful event."

The European Games are due to be held from June 12 to 28 2015.
