The 2014 Asian Para Games will begin in Incheon on Saturday ©Getty ImagesAn Opening Ceremony in the Munhak Sports Complex, themed "Impossible Drives Us", will launch the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon on Saturday (October 18), it has been revealed. 

The Ceremony will consist of four scenes with a total of 1,500 impaired and able-bodied performers taking part.

"I would like to focus on human beings' purest passion and creativity beyond the "impossibility" and celebrate the lives and challenges of them," said Kolleen Park, executive director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. 

The two Ceremonies will cost KRW6 billion (£3.5 million/$5.5 million/€4.5 million) out of the Games' total budget of KRW79.9 billion (£47 million/$75 million/€58.5 million).

Under Park's leadership, Yoo Joon-gyu, chief director, Yoo Mi-jin, costume director, and Cha Jin-yeop, choreographer, have been responsible for the production of the Ceremonies.

The Asian Paralympic Committee have confirmed that the only celebrity due to perform at the Ceremony is native K-pop singer Kim Tae-woo.

Approximately 4,500 athletes from 42 countries will be competing in 23 sports at this year's event.
